Corzine’s choice to eliminate recreational fishing

Gov. Jon S. Corzine has once again shown his disregard for the thousands of recreational fishermen in New Jersey by not reappointing incumbent Ed Goldman to the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council.

Goldman has served this council well and has been an excellent representative of the recreational fishermen as well as the commercial guys.

But Corzine elected not to reappoint Goldman and instead appointed an individual who has no experience with recreational fishing. If you look closely at his record, he is more interested in eliminating recreational and commercial fishing.

Our assemblymen and state senators in southern New Jersey seem to be hiding on this issue.

Hopefully, New Jersey fishermen will remember this in November.

Recreational fishermen have just lost a strong voice.
