Windfall, or election year ploy?

Corzine’s treasurer, David Rousseau, seemed to relish the announcement with glee. The state had “found” millions more than they anticipated in unpaid taxes, recovered in the tax amnesty program.

The question begs – why did the state not know how much money was owed? This money came primarily from corporations and big business. The working class citizens of New Jersey were forced to endure higher taxes and reduced services abd budget cuts because of the total incompetence of Rousseau.

And once again Corzine breaks a campaign promise. He repeatedly stated that one-time windfalls should only be used to decrease the state’s debt. So what is he going to do? He is going to use this windfall to buy votes. Yes, he is restoring the homestead rebates for the middle class.

But wait, didn’t he also promise that his 1% sales tax increase was going to be used partially to fund the rebates?
