Corzine again reckless with the taxpayers’ money

The Corzine administration just rubber stamped another “distressed cities” handout to Union City. However, Corzine has refused to put any restrictions on the spending, or to demand any sort of accountability. This is purely another election year ploy to buy votes. Senator Marcia Karrow of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee was less than amused.

“The governor’s local finance board has approved more than $101 million in aid to five cities over the last few weeks without imposing one meaningful restriction on spending,” Senator Karrow said. “Taxpayers in my district want to know how the Corzine administration can dispense so much aid to a handful of cities with no accountability and still raise taxes by more than $1 billion on the rest of us.”
