Lonegan’s plan

Excuse me, but Steve Lonegan’s plan sounds suspiciously like Corzine’s legacy – unemployment and higher property taxes…

Property tax rebates, gone. Department of Community Affairs, gone. Ten-thousand New Jersey workers, gone.

It’s all part of Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Lonegan’s plan to reduce the size of government.

Lonegan says he could save New Jerseyans $2 billion by eliminating three of 16 state departments and streamlining others. Those moves would put up to 10,000 state employees out of work.

Lonegan also said he would eliminate property tax rebates, which provide relief against New Jersey’s highest-in-the-nation property taxes, which average $6,800 a household.
