Failing grades for Corzine

Opinion Article from

If Gov. Jon Corzine had, as a school kid, received the report card he got last week from a sampling of his constituents in the Monmouth University/Gannett Poll, he wouldn’t have been allowed to watch TV for a month. It was all Ds and Cs — one of the worst report cards he has received since becoming governor more than three years ago.

If he has any hopes of being elected to a second term in November, he’s going to have to start showing dramatic improvement quickly. He will need to start paying attention to what most New Jersey residents have been clamoring for, and not getting, for years — lower taxes, a fairer allocation of the tax burden, bridled public employee unions and an end to the corruption and cronyism that has characterized government at all levels.
